Baja Epic Mountain Bike Stage Race
Nov. 5-8, 2008
Baja California, México

Rosarito Beach, Baja, CA MX

Too Much Fun Promotions, a Rosarito Beach based promotional company announces the formation of the Baja Epic 4 day Mountain Bike stage race scheduled 11/5/08 thru 11/8/08. This four stage event starts in Rosarito Beach and travels east to Tecate on day 1, Tecate to Ensenada on day 2, Valle de la Trinidad to Mike’s Sky Ranch and back, on day 3, then Ensenada to Rosarito Beach on day 4. This course will run approximately 300 miles and bring 24,000 feet of climbing and showcase the area’s incredible diversity in terrain.

The Baja Epic was created by Too Much Fun Promotion's Armando Carrasco…who produced the first Mountain Bike Ride in Mexico; The Montaña Grande that ran from 1986 through 2003. Carrasco has run Too Much Fun Promotions since 1986 and is the longest operating promoter in Baja with hundreds of events under the Too Much Fun Banner and thousands of satisfied customers. Carrasco, a former BMX and Motocross Champion, has a Masters Degree in Tourism from the University of Baja California in Tijuana and headed the Baja Department of Tourism for 6 years, before starting Too Much Fun.

Longtime Mountain Biking icon Tom Spiegel was recently named the event’s Race Director. Spiegel created and runs Team Big Bear. It’s estimated in sheer numbers…Tom’s started more racers than anybody in the world. “We are thrilled to have Tom on the Too Much Fun team. His experience and reputation speak for itself.

Free Ride, trick and trials legend, Mr. EXTREME Mountain Bike Rider Hans “NO WAY” Rey www.hansrey.com will be the celebrity starter for the event. Rey, a frequent visitor to the Too Much Fun Club House, is a seasoned Baja visitor in addition to one of the greatest bike handlers the sport has ever known. Hans will also do an exhibition showcasing his incredible skills. Carrasco comments “Hans is a great friend and a fan of Baja. He’ll be the first of a long time of celebrity starters. I can think of no better way to start this epic event than with Hans Rey giving the signal…maybe in 5 different languages!”

Registration for the event is open at www.bajaepic.com and handled through the secure channels of www.active.com

The Baja Epic is sanctioned by the Baja Department of Tourism and the State of Baja California.
